Bidisha Chaudhuri is an Associate Professor in the domain of IT and Society. She received her PhD from South Asia Institute at Heidelberg University, Germany. She completed an M.A in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and a Joint European Masters in Global Studies from University of Leipzig (Germany) and Vienna University (Austria). She has worked in research institutions and developmental organisations in India and abroad. Prior to joining IIITB, she worked as a Postdoctoral Resaerch Associate at ISEC, Bangalore. Her current research projects include, information systems for sustainable development, politics of data and alogorithms, political economy of digital identity and sociology of work and automation and AI ethics.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
