Fairwork India – Call for Applications | Chennai-based Research Assistant

The multi-year Fairwork Project, at the Center for Information Technology and Public Policy (CITAPP), International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIITB), which examines labour standards in the platform economy, invites applications for one Research Assistant. Locations: Chennai
Experience: 0-2 years
Duration: 1 March till 31 August 2024 with likely extension. Full time.

Responsibilities:
● Interviewing platform workers, and engaging in discussions with platforms and other actors in
the platform economy.
● Participating in the analysis of the data and the scoring of platforms.
● Identifying relevant academic literature and other articles for the analysis of the findings.

Requirements:
● A Master’s degree in any social science discipline (including, but not limited to, anthropology, economics, geography, law, political science, public policy, sociology, or urban planning/studies).
● Prior experience conducting any form of qualitative (or quantitative) research for a project/thesis.
● Professional proficiency in English and Tamil, Familiarity with Hindi a bonus. Familiarity with the city.
● Excellent writing skills and presentation skills.
● Strong organizational skills.
● Ability to work independently.
