Workshop on Datafication

Dates: 12-14 December, 2022

The Centre for IT and Public Policy (CITAPP) in collaboration with the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) conducted a workshop on Datafication, drawing scholarly participation from across disciplines. The three-day event saw discussions about the many dimensions of datafication and explored three major themes – data and markets, data and the state, data and social movements. The workshop concluded with he participants reflecting on themes unifying their individual research and exploring avenues for future collaboration.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
