Janaki Srinivasan was at Goobe’s Book Republic in conversation with Niveditha Menon (Deputy Director, Centre for Budget and Policy Studies) about her book “The Political Lives of Information: Information and the Production of Development in India”.

Niveditha Menon has worked extensively in the area of gender, specifically focusing on violence, empowerment, sexuality, and urban poverty. At CBPS, her work includes examining various gender-related themes such as the experience of women in the IT industry, boys’ underperformance in education in Commonwealth countries, gender violence in public spaces, and collectivisation of women. She has also worked in the intersection of gender and education, including projects on secondary school education as well as developing mentoring models for adolescent girls and boys.

 

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
