Janaki Srinivasan at National Workshop on the Making of an S&T-Enabled Rural India

Prof. Janaki Srinivasan was invited to participate in a National Workshop, ‘Making of an S&T-Enabled Rural India: State-Civil Society Shared Engagements, 1980-2010.’ At the workshop, she delivered a talk titled “Producing development with digital technologies and information: Of shifts in the Indian state and civil society’s engagements at the turn of the century”. The workshop’s objective was to engage with members of the state/bureaucracy, civil society and academia to address understudied, important questions surrounding science and technology initiatives. The workshop was held at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore.

The workshop, sponsored by Ford Foundation, New Delhi was co-organised by Gujarat institute of Development Research, Ahmedabad and Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, Delhi NCR.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
