CITAPP at RISE 2023

CITAPP was represented by research scholars and faculty at RISE (Research, Innovation, Society and Entrepreneurship) 2023 which is a flagship research based outreach event. This year marked RISE’s seventh edition.

The ‘Digital Identity’ panel kick-started CITAPP’s presence on Day 1 of the event. The panel consisted of professors Bidisha Chaudhuri and Preeti Mudliar among others giving glimpses of the ground realities around operationalising digital identity projects. The session was chaired by Prof. Rajagopalan. Professors Janaki Srinivasan and V.Sridhar were part of a panel called ‘Decisons with Data’ where they spoke of looking at the world of data through multiple lenses – both quantitative and qualitative. Rajesh Hanbal presented his doctoral work as part of this panel. Prof. Balaji Parthasarathy offered insights on the panel ‘Smart Environment’ which shed light on the different approaches to looking at the nuanced world of ‘smart’ environments.

Day 2 had professors Balaji Parthasarathy and Janaki Srinivasan as panellists on a panel titled ‘Navigating the crux of publisihing’ on journeying through the ups and downs of publishing, from start to finish. This session was moderated by Prof. Bidisha Chaudhuri. Prof. Amit Prakash was part of the panel on startups consisting of successful entrepreneurs who have started small and have now large market presence in different areas.

Research Scholars Meera Muthukrishnan, Rajesh Hanbal, Rashmi Subbanarasimha and Swati Ganeshan presented posters on their work at the exhibit.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
