CITAPP faculty member Dr. V. Sridhar was a visiting scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California

CITAPP faculty member Dr. V. Sridhar was a visiting scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, USA during May-June, 2021 and April-May, 2022.

The goal of Dr. Sridhar’s visit was to promote collaborative research and joint research projects in the areas of data localization regulation, gig economy regulation, and mobile broadband penetration with faculty of the School of Communication, including Prof Hernan Galperin. The visit also explored possible supervision and collaboration on PhD theses with the scholars at the School.
Dr Sridhar also gave the following research seminars during the visiting period:
  • Research Seminar on “Gig worker interaction in online labor markets”. USC Annenberg Research Seminar. Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California, USA. 18 April 2022.
  • Research seminar titled “Data Localization Regulations: Impact on Digital Trade”. Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California, U.S. 28 May 2021.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
