Description: India Head – , delivered a talk on “Internet Assigned Numbering Authority (IANA) Stewardship Transition” on Friday, 18th March 2016. This was organized as a part of the course on ICT Policy & Regulation for the M.Sc (Digital Society) programme.
Samiran Gupta has been spearheading India’s efforts in the transition of ICANN from NTIA/ U.S. Department of Commerce to a multistakeholder community, the final proposal of which was submitted by the ICANN Board President to the U.S. Government on March 10th (details of which are available at: https://www.icann.org/).
Samiran Gupta is the Head of India for ICANN and a veteran in business strategy and public affairs management. Prior to joining ICANN, he was a Senior Director with APCO Worldwide responsible for counseling clients in business and public affairs strategy. Earlier, he was a founder and managing director of a leading management consulting and business advisory practice known for working on distinctive projects for a range of corporations from Fortune 500 clients to top Indian businesses and mid-sized entities. He has worked extensively in sectors including telecom, entertainment, payment systems, e-commerce, social media, and energy and renewables. He has a Masters in Business Administration from St Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, United States of America, and a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Calcutta, India.
