Workshop on ‘Economic Inclusivity in India’ by UCSC

Date: 19/8/2017

Description: CITAPP, along with the Everett Program for Technology and Change at the University of California Santa Cruz, organized a workshop on Economic Inclusivity in India: Conceptual and Empirical Recommendations for an Indicator Framework on 19th August, 2017. This workshop is part of a larger study on Inclusive Economies, supported by the Rockefeller Foundation. In its attempt to better promote inclusive economies, they are developing a framework to better understand and measure inclusivity, focusing on five broad dimensions: growth, equity, participation, stability and sustainability.

The workshop was attended by the experts from within Bangalore and other parts of the country. The project team presented its findings from applying the framework in the Indian context and sought expert opinion on the relevance and usefulness of the framework on different aspects of inclusivity and development in India.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
